Virginia's burn ban goes into effect Monday. Ahead of that, Charlottesville fire fighters have a strong warning.
In the city it is illegal to have a controlled burn anytime of the year. The state law prohibits burning before four p.m. each day through April 30th. With the city being so densely populated firefighters don't want to risk it.
Charlottesville Fire Department Captain Richard Jones says, "With houses being so close and the potential for something to occur, a fire getting out of control, this is a code that's been in place for a while so that it prevents problems from occurring."
