Four members of the St. Anne's belfield lacrosse team signed letters of intent Wednesday to play lacrosse in college.
Goalie Austin Geisler and attackman Owen Van Arsdale both committed to UVA.
Van Airedale's father, Marc, is the associate head coach with Virginia, and Owen says picking the Cavaliers was an easy choice.
"I wanted to consider everywhere else, because there were a lot of great schools," says Van Arsdale, "but when it came down to it, there was no other choice but UVA."
Geisler says, "It's going to be crazy. It's been a dream, ever since I went to my first game, I wanted to play there. Every game I go to I want to step on the grass and play."
The players say they're looking forward to the next level, but aren't looking past their final year at STAB.
"Senior year is obviously a big deal," says Geisler. "We have such a great team, and we're looking for that three-peat. To walk away with that would be a great accomplishment."
Van Arsdale adds, "I'm looking forward to this year at STAB also. That's really my main concern. But it'll definitely be in the back of my mind, next year playing at UVA, and being there with my dad."
Midfielder Chapin Speidel committed to Denison.
"They're definitely a Division III program on the rise," says Speidel, "and top five last year. I was really looking for a program that has balance between athletics and academics, and Denison was a really good fit for me."
Goalkeeper Mark Hargrove signed with VMI, and says with his brother already attending the school, he was able to get a good look at the program.
"I've been around VMI all of last year and this year," says Hargrove. "The program is in a rebuilding stage, and it's growing right now, and it's in a great position for someone like me to enter the program, so I'm really excited."
STAB begins its season March 12th against Gillman.
