University of Virginia students took to supermarkets in Charlottesville to collect food for hungry families in central Virginia.
Those Cavaliers collected canned goods and other donations for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Two Kroger locations and Foods of All Nations hosted the donation drive.
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, these students wanted to make a difference for people in the community where they go to school.
Event organizer Hunter Nobles says, ”Any little bit we can do is a great way to help out and we as students giving back to the community instead of just being here taking is something that's really important. Hopefully we can give a lot of meals back and with Thanksgiving coming up, this will be a lot of help to them.”
The group's goal Friday was to collect 600 to 900 meals.
