Back in March Dave Leitao resigned as head men’s basketball coach at the University of Virginia. He had just concluded his 4th season at the university and determined it was in the best interest of the program to step down.
According to an article on Yahoo Sports, Leitao is a leading candidate to take over Rio Grande Valley of the NBA's developmental league.
Leitao will meet with Houston Rockets front-office officials on Monday to discuss the coaching vacancy with the franchise's minor league affiliate in Texas. The Rockets want to use the head coaching job to develop future staff assistant coaches as well as players.
