There's officially a new place to shop, eat, and work in Crozet. The Old Trail Village Center opened for business Saturday afternoon.
It's the newest phase in the massive mixed use development's master plan. The Old Trail Village Center is designed by developers to be the hub of the walkable neighborhood. The center is complete with local coffee shops, an insurance company and even a salon.
As families took part in the festivities Saturday, owners and staff of each business made their rounds to promote their new stores in a new center. From free ice cream samples to tumbling in the moon bounce, family and kids alike welcomed the grand opening of the Old Trail Village Center.
Marketing director Andrea Sarate says this day marks a major milestone for commercial expansion into Crozet. “So we're really just Crozet, Old Trail's not separate and our amenities are really complementing what we already have in downtown Crozet, so we'll serve them, too,” she stated.
Sarate says they wanted to introduce the village center to the outlying communities while promoting the concept of businesses and apartments together in one complex.
The center offers apartments on the second level in addition to restaurants, shops, and offices on the ground floor. All but one of the commercial apartments is leased.
Sarate says she anticipated 500 guests at the grand opening, and she says they well-exceeded that number.
