A team of teenagers will be working their way through Charlottesville neighborhoods trying to help people save money. They're working under a city initiative that's trying to save energy one house at a time. They're the self-proclaimed "green team."
The group is pushing the green idea in neighborhoods where the homes are older and the recycling rates are low. The teens will go door to door for six weeks.
The group is finding out what homeowners know about going green and then sharing as much information as possible. They're leaving behind water conservation kits, recycling bins and information on how to cut down your utility bills.
The green team is part of the city's summer internship program. The teens are working with both the public works department and Quality Community Council.
The teens are starting in QCC neighborhoods but would like to knock on every door in the city of Charlottesville before the end of the program.
