NBC29Emergency Appreciation Day in Fluvanna

Emergency Appreciation Day in Fluvanna

Posted: Updated:

A community in Fluvanna County honored its emergency responders Saturday morning with some very personal stories of lives saved.

Cunningham United Methodist Church hosted the Second Annual Emergency Workers Appreciation Day. Law enforcement, the Lake Monticello Water Rescue Squad, and several other emergency crews were there.

One woman, who was flown by Pegasus after a car accident on Route 53 in 2006, got to meet her rescuers for the first time.

Marcia Parker remembered, "iI had a head injury, I had fractured ribs, it was a possible neck injury, so they came and they did all the IV work and then the Pegasus came and it was wonderful to hear that helicopter. I'd seen it before. I never got to meet anybody. "

Saturday, Parker also got to meet the nurse who flew with her to the hospital after the accident.
