UVA Law School Sees Spike in Applicants

Posted: Updated:

The University of Virginia Law School has received a record number of applications this year.

More than 7,850 prospective students have applied to the institution--that's 20 percent more than last year. The school will enroll 350 this year for the graduating class of 2012.

The increase in applications outpaces a national trend. “This will be without a doubt the most difficult year on record to gain admission into UVA Law,” said UVA Law School Senior Assistant Dean for Admissions Jason Wu Trujillo. "I wouldn't let myself in at this point."

According to UVA, the spike consists of mostly out-of-state applicants.
