Bennett Aiming for Spirited JPJ Crowd for Next Season

Posted: Updated:

November 12, 2006 was Virginia's first ever game at John Paul Jones Arena. The 'Hoos hosted Arizona.

New Cavalier coach Tony Bennett watched that game on television, scouting the Wildcats from the Pac-10. Bennett says he remembers being so impressed with the atmosphere at the new arena.

Bennett inherits a team that should be pretty competitive next year. In fact, Wednesday, Bennett praised former UVA coach Dave Leitao for the work that he and his staff did by bringing in talent and getting them playing experience.

Bennett says right now he doesn't know too much about his players but he knows he has the ACC Rookie of the Year Sylven Landesberg. He also knows he must create an atmosphere at JPJ that was like what he saw on television two and half years ago.
