Charlottesville Venues

Old Cabell Hall, the UVa Welcome to the McIntire Department of Music, provides opportunities to create, study, perform, and hear music of many kinds and from all over the world. Visit their website for more information. More>>

Located on the historic downtown mall, the Charlottesville Pavilion is the city's "premier outdoor venue for live performance". More>>

Home to UVA Basketball, the JPJ was also named best new concert venue. The Dave Matthews Band, Eric Clapton and WWE Monday Night RAW have all performed at the venue. More>>

Live Arts has grown into a cutting-edge live community theater in downtown Charlottesville. The theater, dedicated to reinventing traditional art forms, also offers classes and pay-what-you-can shows. More>>

The McGuffey Art Center is a co-operative, non-profit organization that has been in existence since 1975. The building is used as an art center and houses works by local artists. It's open 6 days a week for free to the public. More>>

The historic Paramount Theater reopened in 2004. The dazzling new facilities draw local and national acts from all areas of entertainment, such as B.B. King, George Carlin and the Richmond Ballet.  More>>

Located in Charlottesville, Second Street Gallery is "central Virginia's first artist run alternative art space." The SSG is recognized as a leading nonprofit supporter of contemporary art. More>>

Shenandoah Valley Venues

Incorporated in 1997, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) supports and promotes the culture of Virginia artisans through education, entrepreneurship, research, galleries and exhibitions. More>>

Staunton's Baja Bean has Southern California style Mexican foods and features live music on Sunday nights. Happy Hour is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. More>>

Staunton's Blackfriars Playhouse is a recreation of Shakespeare's original indoor theatre. Called "one of the most historically important theaters in the world", it houses a resident acting troupe. More>>

The Court Square Theater in downtown Harrisonburg is a non-profit art venue. Named "Home of the Valley's Best Entertainment", it hosts film, music and theater. More>>

You can catch movies for just $5 before 6 p.m. at The Dixie Theater in downtown Staunton. Movies usually run without previews so movies start on time.  More>>

The Lime Kiln in Lexington features three performing venues for plays and concerts from May to October. Audiences can catch original theater based on Appalachian folklore amidst the ruins of a 19th century lime kiln. More>>

Located in Staunton, the Visulite shows films for $6 for students, seniors and military personnel. Local musicians can play for free tickets. More>>

Waynesboro Players perform live theater in the Shenandoah Valley and beyond. Casts and crews work to bring audiences such shows as "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". More>>
